A gang of quick trigger gunmen have been terrorizing the city. It’s up to Joe Friday to stop them.
In the homacide department of the police station, Joe is invited on a blind date, in an attempt to marry him off. It doesn’t take long to get word of the killing spree, and with partner Ben Romero, Friday springs into action.
The cops get the facts at the bar where the shootout went down. In flashback mode, the drama reenacts the scene as the robbers were on hand. The owner, and the bar tender’s story’s present the full picture. After the dramatic, and impressive gunfight, the victims include the police officer, and a couple of the bad guys being shot up or dead. Joe talks with the widow of the downed officer, showing that his people skills weren’t always stiff and awkward.
Joe and Ben visit a druggist who reported selling supplies to a man that made him believe he may have a serious wound. It’s the key piece of evidence needed to close in on the bad guys and put a quick end to their crimes. The apartment building is located, and the suspect is questioned. He claims to be clean, but rats on his buddies who he bought the medical supplies for.
The three hardcases are each wounded, but they aren’t going down easy. The cops plan their raid. Get ready for some high drama that is unusual and uncharacteristic for Dragnet. You’re not taking these killers alive coppers. They’ll go down in a hail of bullets before they let themselves go back to jail.
Definitely an exciting ending full of gunplay that yu won’t want to miss.
Note: Dragnet was notorios for titling the episodes “The Big show-Name” but in the first season, they actually gave the shows titles differently. The form of “The Big…” names just sort of evolved as time went on. ,
