boiled detective back, all marlowe hesars is the desperate voice of paul niles, and gun shots. The dame that marlowe catches fleeing the scene is lynn horton. how does she fit into the storhy?
Doing some snooping, marlowe learns that nora is wanted for manslaughter, but as philip phones the murder into the cops, he may not be the only one snooping around. mr Grotto is a big name music producer, and curiously has a valet named horton. Coincidence? philip is sure that somebody is feeding him lies, but who?
With the heat turned up, the cover ups, and offers to hire marlowe for their cause floods his office. horton has followed his sister to marlowes office, but do either of them know anything about nora? The scream of a dame, the sound of rushing feet, and a thump on the head are in store for philip marlowe.
There’s a payoff, and a clue that sends marlowe up and racing. All he finds is another body, and the business end of a .45 automatic.
By now, he has the mystery worked out, and in epilog he shares all the details with the real nora kirby.
