Title: A Very Very Tough Step Father Indeed.

As the family enjoy the beautiful morning, Joan is still sleeping after her all night ordeal. Claudia and Nick comment about the adventure as Pa Barber enters. What new imagined scandal will he think of between Ken and Joan? He seems to be the only one in the family who doesn’t approve of the young man. Will the tight restrictions that Henry Barber wants to put on his grand daughterhelp with her rebellious nature? Joan makes her appearance to get a load of grandpa butting into her business. How will she deal with his attitude?

Back at Sky Ranch Hazel and Dan talk with little brother, Jack. The young lawyer goes on a cheerful tyrade about his worries as a father of six girls. As Cliff enters, the gang wonder what it was that took Claudia and Nick to town so early in the morning. Hazel has her own motherly concerns over her teen age son, Pinky, away at a lumber camp on his first summer job. Suddenly a collect call from Pinky arrives, and Hazel is relieved to hear from her son. The family take turns with wisecracks, but Cliff and Jack leave Hazel and Dan to a little privacy.

Meanwhuile, Andreew has some mechanical trouble with his new motor scooter. Cliff lends a hand to get his son’s wheels back in motion. As Andrew zooms away, Jack talks to Cliff about his love interest, Roberta Evans. Will Andrew be softening to the new girlfriend? Back inside, the collect phone charges are racking up as the hard core step father is still chatting on the phone with Pinky.

Eventually a phone connection is made between Ma Barber and Claudia. How are things going down with Paul, Joan, and Pa Barber? Paul isn’t as much mad, but frustrated and disappointed over his dad’s behavior over the situation. Will Claudia cave in, and take Joan home? Will Paul and his dad have words over the correct way to raise Joan? Everyone agrees, except Henry. It looks as Joan is staying.
