Calling All Cars – York Gang Holdup. ep3, 331213

Mrs Hazel Berg is awakened by her telephone in the early morning hours to hear a woman’s last call for help as she attempted suicide. Thanks to the quick reaction of the cops, and Rio Grande Crack Gasoline, a life was saved!

HS Zieger, Chief of the Los Angeles Police Department shares a story of the difficulties of chasing criminals who don’t speak our language. Mrs Nago does her banking for her Japanese restaurant, only to be robbed as she returns to her business. The frantic woman has trouble in finding the right official to help her, in giving a good description of her ethnic robbers.

Officers Gentry and Evans search the suspected area. Have they found a clue, or is the description they have to go on a little too vague? Thin clues, uncooperative witnesses, but a trail soon emerges. Mrs Nago identifies one of her robbers in a line up, and the trail to nabbing the crooks improves.

There’s still an illusive man, Ignatio Gonzales, that the cops are having trouble pinning down. Cooperation between police in other cities help to round out evidence. Diligence pays off, though it takes months, the dragnet finally catches up, and justice is carried out.
