My Friend Irma – Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. 471229.

Jane takes inventory of herself, and her prospects. She relates the latest misunderstanding that Irma has about life in the kitchen. They get ready for the big New Year’s Eve celebration. When Irma tells about her plans for the party, Jane makes excuses to justify her not having a date. She switches her tune fast when Richard calls her.

Professor Kropotkin stops in to exchange New Years greetings, and talk about his apartment. Jane hurries off to get ready, and Irma helps with getting Janes dress ready. She just needs the professor to try on the dress so she can make the tailoring adjustments.

The prof leaves, but now Al is on hand. Al and Irma make some plans to improve janes chances to get in good with Richard. They decide that if Jane was a blonde, she would be liked better. Will Irma go for sabotaging Jane’s hairdo? Jane gets wise to Irma’s plan, so a back up beautician is called for. Time is short, and though the new gal is a friend of Irma, Jane takes her chances.

Irma’s friend Amber is played by Bea Benaderet, and as the gals chat, Al is sent to the drugstore for beauty supplies. The professor pops in conveniently, and just long enough to be a guinnea pig to be set up for Amber’s date. Suddenly, the evening is a disaster when Jane discovers the dress that Irma fixed, and the mix up in hair supplies that Al bought. No, not stuff to bleach out Jane’s hair, but probably worse.

Her day is saved when Richard makes a last minute phone call about the night’s party, and the thing that has him upset actually works to Janes advantage.
