The Story of your police force in action. Joe Friday and partner, Frank Smith are working the burglary detail.
The partners go on a call where a typewriter, and some office equipment and a company car are missing. The place had been locked up, so the suspicion is that it could be an inside job. It doesn’t shake out that way though.
The police get busy and cover all bases with fingerprinting, checking with informants, and with the pawn shops. A missing check is reported as being cashed, and seems to be the best clue so far. Armed with a description, Joe Friday stays relentlessly on the trail.
An apartment is found with all the missing items in it. Now that the evidence is there, it’s a matter of catching up with the crook. The man is proving to be a wel educated, intelligent, war veteran. Which just goes to show that anybody can be tempted into a life of crime.
The man admits to forging checks, but refuses to be tied to the burglaries. Is the guy too smart for the cops? Friday hits a gold mine to discover the real story behind the crooks history and war record, not to mention connecting the man to all the charges.
