A visitor has come to the Gildersleeve home. With the bad weather, its hard to turn out the sickly mama’s boy, Oliver to travel back across town. Will he wind up being an over night guest?
Sweet dreams are interrupted with the sound of a fire truck siren. It sounds close, can Leroy go and watch? Tossing a thin layer over their night clothes, the whole family go out to watch the action. Besides having words with a few neighbors, and firefighters, Gildy is only at the beginning of a night of troubles. The gang has left the house locked tight, and nobody has a key in their pajamas. Can Birdie bail them out?
Oliver manages to get stuck on the roof, trying to get into a window, and the commotion being made is enough to get the neighbors mad. Will there be any rescue from the cold night air? The fire department is back on the scene, and after a brief comedy of errors, the door is opened. Too bad the door blows shut again after the family sees the firemen off. And what ever happened to Oliver?
