A ship at sea, and a French nobleman has escaped prison. He lets people think that he has died in prison, and takes on the identity of Monsieur Beaucaire. In his new identity, he is able to move about freely, and takes French society by storm. Apparently nobody, or very few, have actually seen his royal self before he became imprisoned.
Other noblemen grow jealous, and think they know his identity. That of a hairdresser that they met on ship. The French royal plays along, and enjoys the fun he is having with those of high society. He continues to change his disguise, and partake of the social life. Eventually, he will be found out as… Monsieur Beaucaire? /Will he be caught at being an imposter, and his true identity revealed? There’s plenty of romantic elements to this drama. Mystery, Swordplay. Chivalry. Deception. And all that stuff.
