Down Our Way – Men’s Cooking Contest. ep9, 1932

A new contest sweeps the town. The excitement has Eli flustered, as he tries to tell Jenny all about the cooking contest for men. The choir get together for a session of cooking and music. A new voice in the show is heard. Stinky is a kid who is such a handful, Eli thinks he’s a midget in disguise. The choir sings, Deep At Rest.

Back to cooking, with Eli and Ben swapping friendly insults. Will the womenfolk learn from the men’s cooking secrets? Dressed in aprons and chef hats, Eli, Ben, and Ckliff let their creations cook, while Cliff sings, O Danny Boy.

Time for the judging, and the ladies tune in the radio to hear about the decision. Listen to the play by play. Will there be a major upset in the predicted winner? One dish takes all the prizes. In the aftermath of the contest Alice sings, Eyes of Blue Are Smiling At Me. Eli knows a secret though, that could disqualify the winner. To close, the gang sing, On a Hill Far Away.

Moral of the story: Helping the poor and needy.
