In the drugstore, Chick the soda jerk takes care of business, and arranges to rent a boat from Griff Miller. Faith pops in to flirt with Chick, but who does he like better? Faith, or Ella Mary? All Faith needs to do is have her mom write her a note so old Griff Miller will rent that boat for a date on the lake.
As Doc pays a visit to the store, Ella Mary also pops in for an ice cream soda, and to flirt with Chick. Why is Chick so dressed up? Does Pete or Doc know about his date with Faith, and will one of them spill the beans in front of Ella Mary?
It may go badly for Faith to learn that Chick had to cancel his date, but somehow Ella Mary doesn’t mind as she has a second ice cream soda, and the chance to get in more flirting time with Chick.
PS: Wow, all those ice cream desserts, that Ella Mary is having, and she still feels like she has a shot at winning the beauty pageant. Ah, the wonders of youth, and a high metobolism.
