A rash of poisoning has broken out, and the mayor gets a letter claiming that the Shadow is fed up with crimefighting. The Shadow is now bent on holding the city hostage under his reign of terror until he is paid.
Elsewhere, Lamonte Cranston and Margot Lane discuss the situation at hand, and connects some dots to find a common thread behind the deaths. The two follow up on a hunch and find a chemist at the center of the scheme. Now it’s time for the real Shadow to spring into action.
A confrontation between the Shadow, and the chemist is in order, and his evil plan is confirmed. Has the Shadow met his match? Can anybody stop the eccentric, mad scientist? The chemist manages to evade the Shadow and is bent on poisoning the water supply in the suburbs.
The Shadow has only been set back, not stopped, and the race is on to intercept the crazed man. Will the mad man, Gerber, be stopped? Will the Shadow clear his name? I think you know the answers to those questions, but ride along for the suspenseful ending.
