An aristocratic family has sent a letter to the mounties to keep an eye on their black sheep of a son. Though he has better things to do, Sgt Preston puts Gerald on the right track to the benefits of hard work in the open outdoors. Will a few months of life as a respectable prospector do any good for the young man?

Months go by, and though Gerald has been making good, a gambler and rival from his past creeps back into his life. Jarvis sees a chance to capitalize on the wealthy family. A kidnapping is planned to hold the aristrocratic Gerald for ransom, but will Gerald have any friends to help him out? Has Preston moved along, and out of the scene once the errant black sheep made improvements to his life?

The kidnappers have their plans complicated when a salloon girl gets suspicious, and they have to add her to their scheme. Will it be the thing to stir the vallient nature of Gerald, and cause him to fight for the honor of a lady? Still, without a little help from Sgt Preston and King, it could be a battle that Gerald might lose against the ruthless bandits. In epilog the noble family is pleasantly surprised to recieve their son back, and happy with the bravery shown by him.
