In his office, Doc Ben Withers talks with Abner about his goat, and other animals that he’s treating as patients. Abner tells how Lum is doing with his Lumburgers, the flare that is put into each creation, and the ego trip at the climb to fame. Doc turns the conversation to his patients, and the people he deals with.
Should Abner ask for a raise, and demand to be paid what he’s worth in the business? Will his courage hold up when Abner comes face to face with Lum? Will Abner be forced to quit his job, and partnership in the store? Will he come to grips with the business expenses that Lum describes?
Lum seems that he’s back on top of his game as president of the business as he manipulates Abner into settling for less than his current salary.
