Jack Benny – Jack Is to Appear on Phil Baker’s Program. 461201

Audio quality is a little low. We join Jack having a violin lesson from Professor LaBlanc. As Jack scratches and hesitates his way through the scales, Mel sings and comments on his agony at having to live through another lesson. LaBlanc talks to Rochester about his arrival to America, and the shattered dreams he is now living through. Jack is back, and can barely control his laughing as he moves the action along. Chained to the wall, LaBlanc throttles Jack’s enthusiasm with a classic, “Wait a Minute!” moment.

It’s off to the vault to pay the professor, and Dennis shares comments with Jack about their recent shows. Jack just being on the Phil Baker quiz program. Dennis has his song snipped.

Instead of the usual guard, Mary is in the vault, and Jack greets her with a mushy welcome after being gone for the past 2 weeks. Did she miss Jack? It’s hard to tell with the litany of top name celebrities she hung out with in Palm Springs. Phil phones in with a dispute with Jack over sponsors, but a wierd phone cross wiring causes confusion. Hasn’t Jack made it to the vault yet? Will he ever get around to paying for his lessons? Audio is a little mangled, but Ed learns about the new inventions discoveries, and states since his last exposure to the outside world.

As the show ends, Phil Baker shows up in need of a place to stay. A gag similar to one he just did with an appearance on the Burns and Allen show. Will Jack prove he actually won on Phil’s quiz show? Will Phil prove that he can play his accordian as well as Jack can on his violin? Rochester helps out by vocalizing a few bars of Alexander’s Ragtime Band.

Note: Not sure why this show has this title. Jack seems to have already been on the Phil ?Baker show, not getting ready to appear.
