Grandpap is taken aback to find out about Lum going to the Lady’s Aid meeting. Is Lum trying to join the ladies group? Abner tries to set him straight, and they talk a little about Lum’s fund raising to pay for the church piano.
The explanations turn into an argument between the old gents. Eventually we learn more about the Childress family, and their need for housing.
A house in town might do the trick, but the owner of it may be a bit possessive over letting anyone stay there. Will Lum’s speech for the ladies be persuasive enough to do the trick? Or will it just cause him more troubles when he promises a house for the needy family?
