Burns and Allen – George’s Birthday. 460919

It’s George’s birthday. So why is he so crabby today? Nobody has sent him any cards, telegrams, or greetings. Gracie tries her best to cheer him up by comparing him to the nation’s great men. Will Gracie convince Bill Goodwin that this should be a national holiday? Will the Happy Postman know what the day is, or have any mail for George? Instead, he tells a little about his marital troubles. A magazine article tells how volunteers are being sought for the first rocket flight to the moon. Is this the thing for Gracie to recruit George to do and make him famous?

As George frets at even his family members haven’t contacted him on his birthday, Gracie tries to tell him facts about the moon. Will he get her point? News flashes fill the radio waves about the newly volunteered spaceman.

Will the batch of telegrams raise George’s spirits, or just confuse him? Meredeth Willson visits with congradulations, and some word from his hometown, Mason City, Iowa.

Telegrams keep coming, and George’s ego is inflated. Though puns on rockets, sp;ace, and the moon have abounded, George is still clueless as to his mission to the moon. Only after Bill Goodwin delivers a message for the sponsor, does George get the news about his rocket ride. What’s he so afraid of all of a sudden? Can he get out of it?
