Hop Along Cassidy – The Man Who Made Willy Whirl. ep20

Spending the day in town, California introduces Hoppy to a troupe of actors. Instead of giving out their autographs, the actors ask the world famous cowboy for his autograph. Speaking of playacting, a man confronts Hoppy claiming it is our cowboy hero who has been blackmailing him. What kind of trouble has fallen into Hoppy’s lap this time?

A shot rings out and Hoppy races off to investigate the clues. Someone has taken a pot shot at Gregory, the blackmailed man. After a confrontation with his suspect, Hoppy heads out to the spot where his masked imitator threatened blackmail, only to rescue a damsel in distress.

Things look at their worst when Hoppy is locked up in jail for not only blackmail, but murder. The sheriff certainly has enough evidence to make the charges stick, even a signed note from Hoppy. There’s plenty of clues, and more when you give this episode a listen. It’s more of a challenge of Hoppy’s mental ability to get himself out of this jam, rather than a show down of blazing guns, although there’s still plenty of action to go around.
