Often stories of range wars on the prairies start when homesteaders move in and begin fencing off the land. Or when sheep men move into the same lands as the cattle herds. This doesn’t seem to be the case today. We learn that cattle are being rustled, some from each of the local ranches including the Bar 20, Hoppy’s ranch.
To add to the fevered pitch of emotion, a young homesteader suddenly has more money than he ought to have, and he’s spreading it around to pay off his debts. Did he steal the cattle to sell on the market? Why won’t people believe his story of recieving an inheritance. Only Hop Along Cassidy seems to see through the situation and think rationally.
Can Hoppy get to the bottom of the situation before it blows up into a range war? Who might have motive to see that tempers flare, and the nesters kicked out? Those questions and more are answered as Hoppy forces a confession out of the man behind the orchestrated affair, but even that’s a trick in itself. Join in to see if you put the pieces together to this mystery as well aws Hoppy did to save the day.
