As they anticipate their first guest for the hotel, Lum and Abner argue over who’ll be the one to meet her at the train station. Lum’s already in love, and he hasn’t even seen the woman yet.
Dick Huddleston enters to tell about the hotel stockholders, and why they’re mad at Lum. He also wonders how their first guest, Trixie Van Deusen from Chicago, has heard about the hotel opening. Lum shares a few of his advertising campaign ideas. A blend of ades from other hotel resorts he studied up on from various publications.
Abner renews the arguement of who’ll be the manager of the hotel, feeling that he’s kjust as qualified to do it as Lum is. He’s so mad that he has to settle for being Assistant Manager that he storms out.
