Vic And Sade – Mrs Applerots Petition. 420300

After a rousing rummy tournament, Vic gloats about his victory over Rush, and Sade enters with a bit of gossip. She has been tasked with a petition against the Bright Kentucky Hotel. It’s not that Sade cares one way or another, but she’s being pushed into the crusade by her thimble club rival, Mrs Applerot. The ladies have heard the hotel has been condemned, and want to petition to make sure the order is carried out, and the place torn down.

Through her speech about the petition, Rush repeats his determination that he will not sign it. Sade reports that none of the ladies care about the politics of it, or the hotel, and reads the petition that Mrs Applerot has written up. She recounts how, as president of the thimble club, she was pushed into being the spokeswoman for Applerots plan, and all the ladies were timid enough to not stand up to challenge the idea.

Whatever will Sade do as the representative of the petition? Will she be obligated to do her civic duty?

PS: I love the opening scene, and Vic’s “in your face” trash talk as he rubs Rush’s nose in his losses. You gotta admire the poise Rush shows as he is the victim of Vic’s figurative victory dance.
