Strange and baffling things are about to happen, but first Tom has a message to continue support of the war effort, even though today is the day that victory over Europe came in World War II.
As Tom is driving with some of his friends, he notices a car following him, and suspects it to be spies. Miss Drake briefly goes over how this mystery came about when a spy plane landed in St Louis. The elaborate ruse was designed to throw off enemy agents, but it doesn’t seem to have worked. Tom is determined to follow the mission all the way through, until it’s complete, or they’ve all been mowed down.
The precision of the cloak and dagger spy trade requires closely following orders, but Tom manages to relax as he celebrates V-E Day. Will his casual manner be the trick to throw off their spy? A trap is being laid, but is it Tom who is being caught, or the spy?
It appears the slip has been given, and Tom is on a long airplane trip to Europe. Still,m something seems to be strange and wrong.
