Lum and Abner – Miss Emaline Encourages Lum. 460625

Chet Lauck and Norris Goff wearing a suit and tie smiling at the camera. Sitting in front of a radio microphone, one holding a script and the other adjusting his glasses -

After his bragging has gotten him roped into writing a play for the school’s parent teacher group, Lum is having regrets. Can Abner help bail him out? Plagerizing from a book in the library, Lum writes his play from the book, Gilbert the Boy Trapper. Although he has telephones, and maids in the play. Lum and Abner have the scene set, but they toss around ideas for dialog.

Lum envisions a young blonde girl with golden curls, who falls in love with a tall man that answers Lum’s description. The heroine is a circus star who has a tragedy that the handsome bachelor rescues her from. He sees his real trouble is that it’s too big of a production for the school kids to handle.

As Lum is ready to toss in the towel in his writing, a phone call from Miss Eveline renews his determination. Has he come up with a cure for his writers block?

PS: I love Abner’s responce to Lum saying his characters live happily ever after. “Oh? They don’t get married?”
