Vic and Sade – Budgeting. 420211

Audio is a bit low in resolution, but not too bad. Vic and Sade get ready for another evening of playing 500 with the Stembottoms. Rush enters in the middle of a discussion on using a blackboard to keep track of the scoring of the card game. Vic and Sade are so intent on their argument that Rush feels ignored, and tries to wedge himself into their conversation. Good luck.

Vic is a little offended at the idea of the blackboard, claiming his professional skill as an accountant, and the ability of working with large figures in his head. The phone rings, and as Sade makes arrangements for ice cream for the evening, Rush claims a small victory when he is almost spoken to by his parents. Noticed at last, at least in a small way.

As Vic gets to pouting, and Sade is oblivious to it in her preparations, Rush tries to get in a story about his friends. It’s his attempt to distract the tension, and uplift the spirits in the house. With Sade steamrolling the party details, and Vic clamming up, no progress in the family relationship seems to be taking place. Sacrificed on the altar of keeping up appearances for neighbors.
