,,,Gracie’s favorite club, and the bane of George’s existence, the Lady’s Uplift Society has a meeting in full swing. They are planning a theatrical play, and Gracie wants to play the leading lady. Without a place to show the play, Gracie wants to offer George the leading man role, if they can do the play on the radio show. Can she flatter George enough to go for the idea. George is upset to be in the presence of the ladies, but will they convince him to put his acting skills to work for them? He might even get a chance to sing. Meredeth Willson and his orchestra play a smooth dance version of, Meet Me in St Louis.
Gracie has tricked George into taking a lesser part, so her club can get Charles boyer for the lead instead. Thinking their half hour show might be too short for the play, Gracie sets out to sweet talk Dinah Shore into giving up her show, so the ladies can have more time. The studio manager, Sydney Strotz, won’t go for it.
Back home, Gracie continues to go over parts with the ladies, and honorary member of the club, Meredeth. Elsewhere, the studio exec calls George over to talk to him about Gracie’s crazy plan. In the process though, George is mixed up for the executive by a sexy dame who is to soften the studio man up, and soften him to Gracie’s will. Gracie arrives, but her mission is derailed when she’s surprised to find George with the sexy woman instead.
Note: The one hour play was to go on for real the following week, but I don’t have a recording of it. If someone knows where to find it, be sure to let me know.
