Amos and Andy – Charles Boyers Valet. 440121 (Retro Plus)

Another double feature of a classic from thei earliest days, and a later show from Amos and Andy.

First Show: Andy Works the Hotel Desk. 01-09-1933. Andy gets some instruction from the Efficiency Expert on the procedures he’s expected to follow on his job as hotel desk clerk.

When the Business Consultant wants some input to help him work with the others in the hotel. Andy fills him in on the other characters on the show, and a little about their personalities.

Second Show: Charles Boyers Valet. 01-21-1944. Andy is about to pop the question to his latest love interest, Subpoena. She has to turn him down because he’s just too uncouth. Andy tells Amos and Kingfish all about it, and they do what they can to offer advice. Kingfish even gets Andy a job as butler for Charles Boier. Maybe the good habits of charles will rub off on Andy.

Andy is looking forward to being an overnight success. Andy takes notes, and tries to get all the culture he can. As Charles practices lines for his next film, Andy eavesdrops. Just for practice for his leading lady, he goes over parts that he normally wouldn’t play, namely those of an abusive lover.

Andy keeps eavesdropping to take notes, not aware the two are just acting. It’s been a confusing day, but Andy gets ready to take his gal on a date to show off his new cultured side. Somehow, Andy isn’t as charming as he expects he should be, and has a final piece of advice for Charles.

The show ends with a news release from Elmer Davis concerning the latest war news.
