Bud asks Lou about his new suit. It’s actually a Navy officer’s uniform. The plays on words lead to a discussion of girls, and Lou’s relatives. Bud tries to brag about his own nautical abilities, but Lou is confused about the termonology. Bud quizzes Lou about emergencies at sea.

Down at the shipyards, the nautical jokes keep on coming. As a ship gets christened, so does Lou. The scenes include Mel Blanc and Verna Felton. Next, Lou gets a physical exam where his tattoos are admired. Mr Kitzel is in charge of the Seabees, and interviews Lou to see if he can use him on one of his ships. Lou challenges Kitzel to a swimming contest, but pulls a fast one.

Bud and Lou go out in a row boat, and ride among the ships. They board a ship, and it’s Lou’s big chance to take charge. Lou starts out firing out commands, but will seasickness put a damper on things? Bud and Lou tour the ship with jokes about all the nautical terms. After a near miss with a lighthouse, Lou has a mishap with another ship.
