Squire Skimp enters the Jot ‘Em Down store, but finds only Cedric. Squire learns that Lum is trying to get Mousey to sign up to fight Iron Ike. Squire seems skeptical of Mousey’s ability, but Cedric fills him in on all the details of knocking people out. Seeing his chance, Squire discovers that no contract has been signed, and leaves to pursue a plan of his own.
Cedric has some trouble answering the phone, and in a slight flub claims to be Lum Eddards. Lum enters to say that he explained to Gussie about the fight and prize money, and she’ll do what she can to get Mousey to fight. As Lum dreams of promoting Mousey to the big time, Mousey comes in with some news. Will he fight or not? Has Squire gotten to their man?
