After a trip to the library in the county seat, Lum is ready to start taking applications for library cards. He has all the materials he needs, and Cedric is the first to apply. There’s just a few snags to work out. Cedric needs to be a property owner, and have a telephone to be contacted with.
The whole process is confusing to Abner, but Cedric is determined to be honored with his library card. After Lum is sufficiently agrivated and leaves, Squire comes over to let Abner know that his lions are ready, but it’ll cost him a little more than first expected. Still, it appears the library is about to have the lion that Lum wanted. Or at least the lion that Abner thought that Lum wanted.
