As Molly has gone to shop for hats at the Bon Ton department store, Fibber is left at home to read the newspaper. Mell Blanc is the hiccuping telegraph man with more news for Fibber. Gooey, a chinaman, delivers the laundry and a word about his relatives in sports. Teeny enters and wants Fibber to tell her a story, beforeDonald Novas sings, The Way You Look Tonight.
Molly comes home to a round of compliments on her hat. The McGee’s finally get the chance to read their telegram, only to learn that Fibber won’t be able to get the talking parrot he ordered. Meanwhile, Nick the Greek neighbor pops in with a mixd up word on Robinson Cruso. Abigail Uppington visits and talks hats with Molly. Fibber has a confusing conversation with Mirt the phone operator, before calling the freight office about a delivery. The Four Notes sing, Music Ringing in My Heart.
On the way to the freight office, Boomer awaits Fibber with a game of chance. There’s a delay that involves a traffic cop, but Molly turns the situation around, and it’s off to pick up the delivery.
Note: Harold Peary, the Great Gildersleeve plays a double role in today’s episode. He’s both the gruff traffic cop, and the voice of the high pitched Chinese laundryman.
Hey, Whadda ya know, I just noticed that with the date of this episode, my dad was 1 day short of being 3 months old. And it’s my son’s birthday, 45 years early.
