American Trail – The New South. ep11, 1953.

The Southern United States used to be a quiet, serene place. After the Civil War ended in 1865, it was quiet and nearly barren. It would be a long road to get back to the previous plantation lifestyle. Instead, efforts are made to use the land for more modern industry. The voiceover monolog and dramatic glimpses illustrate the years passing, the former slaves being educated. Particularly the accomplishments of George Washington Carver and his work in agriculture.

In other arenas, public health, oil booms, manufacturing, industry, and more are developed. Despite the set back of the Great Depression, modern industry, and World War 2 are the causes to make the South once again rise from the ashes. Listen in, and take national pride in the way Americans bounce back from desolation, and create a better world.
