Lum is down in the dumps,and agonizing over the mess he has found himself in since he faked having a broken leg. He has had enough and is going to let the truth out. Abner takes off the bandages, and is confused over Lum’s figures of speech about facing the music, and lying in the bed he made for himself.
When Cedric announces Miss Fredericks has returned from the county seat, and has a present for Lum, he hastily has the bandage put back on to milk the sympathies of the fair teacher. Instead Squire comes in and notices that Lum has the wrong leg bandaged.
PS: This can’t be good. Will Squire try to blackmail Lum in someway? Stay tuned to see how events shake out for our heros. In the 1935 run of shows that are similar to this, the guys were having an election to see who would be president of the store. Squire wasn’t privvy to the secret, but he spent the insurance check while campaigning for Abner.
