You Are There – The Trial Of Aaron Burr, 1807AD. ep81, 491030.

This is the 28th day of the trial of vice President Aaron Burr, and there is still no clear outlook on how it will end. The governing body is divided whether he is innocent of treason, or if he should hang for his offenses. CBS reporters are there to bring us the political climate, and offer descriptive commentary of the scenes where history is happening.

The charge deals with a matter of conspiring with Mexico to set up an empire in the territories out West of the Louisianna Purchace. Burr is suspected of meeting with at least one of the key players, but any evidence was then, and still remains controversial today. Colonel Burr gives his side of the story to the reporters, and it’s actually a pretty straight forward account of his known whereabouts, and the flimsy evidence that is brought against him.

Digging deeper, CBS looks at political factions who think they can prove a case against him. Though the claim is that he assembled and moved armed men, there isn’t any evidence that he did, or had any direct involvement in the activity, or that any such activity even occured. Sketchy stuff. How will this be resolved? Listen for the final decision.
