Lum has gone to the county seat to close a big deal to merge the Pine Ridge bank with the one there. In the Jot ‘Em Down store, Abner fills in grandpap of the details. The sweet deal will have Lum going to be president in the county seat, which means Abner will be promoted to bank president in Pine Ridge. Grandpap is to take over Abner’s duties as store clerk, but as he leaves and Lum enters there is bad news. Their bank has been operating illegally, and needs to be shut down in 24 hours or face a law suit.
