Eddie Cantor Visiting Al Jolson. 490107.

After a few opening jokes from Eddie, Dinah Shore sings, Wait For Me. Eddie talks with Harry Vonzel and Dinah about the housing shortage, politician’s increasing wages, . and other political news. Eddie even pokes fun at his friend, Jack Benny.

Eddie takes the gang to visit Al Jolson at his house. Jolson gives a tour of his place, and brags about his boy to Eddie, the father of five girls. The two dads compare notes on how to take care of babies. Since Al’s show is sponsored by another company, the two swap one liners to joke about each other’s sponsors. Jolson sings, The One I Love Belongs to Somebody Else.

The two old friends complain about their stereotypical jokes as Eddie tries to convince Al to appear on his show. Trying to avoid forbidden, easy jokes, the cash register bells ring as penalties for their lapses. Jolson sings a song modified to pitch the sponsor, to the tune of April Showers. Eddie and Al do a medley of their old songs, in vaudevillian fashion.
