When word of a motion picture has set up in town, people are now flocking to Pine Ridge to watch the spectacle. Lum and Abner comment on the phenomanon, and recap the deal with renting the store to Squire, and the money that is to be made. To put the right foot forward, Lum wants to make a good impression and wants to sell off their older stock. Gotta make a good impression by having fresh goods on the shelves. Will our humble heros be passing out autographs soon? Lum thinks so.
Grandpap enters, and Lum tries passing out his first autograph. Too bad the old guy isn’t as impressed as Lum had hoped. What does grandpap think about the idea of selling off the old merchandise? Before he is able to answer, Squire joins the grop with worrisome news. The movie company wanted the rustic old fixtures, not the modern changes that Lum made.
