With his faithful indian companion, the Lone Ranger led the fight to tame the Western plains. As the Westbound train pulled into the little town, Dan Reed arrives to find Tonto waiting for him at the station. They watch as a hobo crawls out from under a carriage, and is stopped by the sheriff. Something is pulled from the hobos coat pocket, and gunshots are fired. Who would be shooting? Was the target the sheriff, or the hobo? Tonto and Dan didn’t wait around to learn all the details, but rode to tell the Lone Ranger what they witnessed. What will the Lone Ranger and Tonto find in Clearwater?
Meanwhile, we learn of a conspiracy where a man had been purposely staged to ambush, and shoot hobos who got off the Westbound trains. The boss kicks up his plans a notch. Back in the jail, the hobo has cleaned up well, and talks with Nancy, the Marshall’s daughter. They were childhood friends, and they relive moments of years ago when there was an aledged accident in the mines. A secret about the mine is revealed.
Bob and nancy are startled when a masked man enters, but they quickly realize whose side he’s on when he helps with their escape, and thwarting a killer who shows up. All the while, Dan has been placed in the mine entrance, and our heros all rally there. There’s a web of tunnels, but with Bob’s map, our heros have he edge on any intruders. The Marshall isn’t just a dimwit, he has put together some of the puzzle pieces. He just hasn’t put them together fast enough to avoid being clobbered by the bad guys.
The bad guys take to the mines, to get Bob. Things move fast, and the Lone Ranger springs his trap to turn the tables, and ties up all the loose ends for the Marshall, and for Bob and Nancy. Note: There’s some record noise, but otherwise the audio is excellent. Also I think this may actually be from a later date, but it likely also aired on the date listed.
