After the election, the women now rule the local government. The unique nature of this event has made newspaper coverage, all to the embarrassment of Squire Skimp. Lum gets a phone call from the new lady mayor, she’s asking him for advice in running the office. The jilted Lum refuses to tell her, and makes her learn the ropes on her own.
Squire is upset that with attention in the newspapers that the town will be the laughingstock of the county. What will people think of a town ran by women? What kind of changes will women impose on the town, and their menfolk? Lum gets word that the new sherrif Lizabeth is about to get her first test in the arena of peacekeeping, when bank robbers are reported on their way towards Pine Ridge.
