Jack is getting ready to leave for Texas to put on a show for the big charity game. As Rochester helps him pack, Don, Mary, and the cast members each call in. Mary shares some news a bout her family back home. When Phil tries to call in, Jack gets connected to a phone call where a dramatic scene unfolds, something on par with a popular film at the time, Sorry Wrong Number.
Dennis stops in to share his latest zany comments, and wish Jack well on his trip. Dennis sings, Dear Hearts and Gentle People.
At the train station, Mary meets Jack where Mel Blanc delivers on the train announcements. On the way to the news stand, Jack meets Mr Kitzel and they talk about their travel iteneraries. Frank Nelson is the news stand clerk and gives Jack a hard time.
Notre Dame coach of the day, Frank Lahey, makes an appearance. He chats with Mary before boarding the train. On the train, and not knowing who the coach is, Jack brags about his football prowess.
The situation lends itself to a few last minute jokes and slow burns.
