Vic and Sade – Vics New Hat. 381130.

It’s a typical evening in the small house halfway up the next block. Rush tries to finish his algebra homework, and Vic talks with Sade about the new hat he wants to buy. She just knows he wants to buy a big, wide brimmed cowboy hat, and thinks it’s a silly waste of money. Sade puts her foot down, and demands that she shop with him for a practical and economical hat.

Rush tries to break in with a story about his day, but as is typical, he gets interupted. Sade still sticks to her plan to shop with Vic, and already has some fashionable hats in mind as good alternatives for a wide brimmed hat. Rush tries to get back to his story about Smelly clark, but now it’s the phone that interupts. Ruthie is inviting Vic and Sade for a game of 500, but instead of going out, the game is coming here.

Vic shows his distaste for the process of shopping. He’s a little disgruntled at Sade for doing all his talking in the stores, and having no say in the clothes he buys. Vic is less concerned with color or fashion, just as long as it fits. The whole time Rush is a little perturbed at not being able to finish his story, but while Sade begins to second guess the story, the phone is once again ringing. Does poor old Rush ever get to finish a story?

Note: one of my favorite episodes in the series. I don’t know why, it just is. I think it’s because I’d like to have a wide brimmed hat too. I can sympathize with poor old Vic, wanting to just do his own thing and get what he likes. Though he can stick up for what he likes when he wants to, when it falls in the realm of Sade’s expertise, no body can have their way. She’s queen of her house, and all things concerning taking care of her family. Including clothes, fashion, and chores. Good ol’ Rush, he tries to come to his dad’s aid, interupting, forsaking his dreaded algebra and the like. Not to mention the fact that he never gets to finish a story, at least never in the window of time that these episodes share with us.
