When widow Beaumont came to Pine Ridge from Nashville, Lum was eager at the prospect of marriage, then he learned of all her kids. Over the past few days Lum has been playing nursemaid, and has been melting towards the idea again.
In the Jot ‘Em Down store, Abner and grandpap review the chain of events thus far. With not much going on, their conversation turns to playing checkers. Lum enters, and has definitely changed his mind about getting married, he brags on the widow and on the kids. As Lum tries to phone the widow before he pops the question, Squire enters with the news that the widow has left town.
