Lately the menfolk of Pine Ridge have been sharing their woes over women trouble. The men have banded together , and have formed a protection society. To put the new society to a test, and flex their muscle, Abner has given Lizabeth some backtalk, and now finds himself living alone.
Today the guys all get together for a meeting of the protection society. Even Squire Skimp is a part of it, and they put together a contract that their wives are supposed to sign off on to show them respect. It all sounds good and fine on paper, but Abner begins to see that it may not be so practical.
When grandpap comes in with a blackened eye, it’s the first chance for the guys to march and show solidarity.
