Wild Bill Hickock – The Mystery Of The Five Deadly Double Eagles. ep30, 1951.

Of all the wierd mysteries that Bill and Jingles have been on, this one has to take the prize. A little guy named Victor is something of a dude, and soft spoken. He has come to the town of Halfway Up to announce that he is to be the next big bandit in these parts.

There’s already some pretty rough types in town who have the bad guy jobs all covered though, and chase Victor away.

Commercial time, and time to load up on a supply of those tasty treats, and you know why. Kids love Pops, moms love Pops, and pops love Pops.

As Bill and Jingles approach town they hear gunshots, and see the fleeing Victor. Now it’s Bills turn to learn Victors story, but while the tale is being told, the listener is taken to the scene of a stage coach robbery where the main bad guy in town, One Step, a peg legged bandit steals the gold. Back in town Jingles and Bill relax, get cleaned up, talk about the oddball characters in town, and though Jingles thinks there’s nothing harmful about it, Bill has his doubts. Is Victor being set up to take a fall?

The brainy Victor just may have his own plans to outsmart the rough and tumble types in town. Tragedy begins pouring in as Bill learns of the stage coach robbery, then the livery stable catches fire. And to top off the plan of the bad guys, a report that Victor has been seen at the livery.

It’s enough to make you want to jump right through the speaker and help out, but instead just take out those frustrations on a big box of tasty, crunchy treats. Hope you stocked up your supply of that sugary goodness.

Bill isn’t falling for the plans that have been layed for him to set up the little Victor Biggs. What clues will it take to clinch the deal, and nab the bad guys? Victor helps Bill and Jingles to wrap up the case and get his reward of five double eagles. (five $20 goldpieces.)
