Great Gildersleeve – Leilas Antique Vase. 1957

Featuring Willard Waterman. Gildy is surprised at home when Leila pops in as he is taking his tool kit to the basement. She marvels at his tools, and wants him to make something special for her.

Later, Birdie leaves for the church bazaar, when Leila visits. Leila agrees to drive Birdie to the meeting, and wants to leave her antique vase in a safe placeShe just wants Gildersleeve to fix the loose teakwood base.

As Birdie leaves, Leroy and a hungry Gildersleeve arrives for lunch. Thinking the vase is a cheap one, and meant for that fix it project for Gildy. Leroy helps as Gildersleeve set about turning it into a lamp. As documented by the running commentary from Gildy and Leroy, the lamp project goes extremely well. Imagine Gildy’s surprise when he learns the truth about the vase.
