Wellsir, the murkiness of evening descends on the small house halfway up the next block. Vic spends some quiet moments enjoying playing horseshoes when Sade sends Rush to bring him inside.
She and Vic are to go to Hopewood to the picture show. Fred and Ruthie Stembottom have invited them along as a treat. Too bad Vic hates picture shows, and isn’t looking forward to a late night when he wanted to be in bed early. With commitments made, the news is worse when Vic learns the show will be a double feature.
Can it get any worse than that? Not only is it a movie that Vic has already seen at the Bijou, but he hated it. What about the other picture? Another rotten film that Vic has seen. Will Sade actually make Vic suffer through the wretched experience? O the suffering that one must make to keep up social appearances and graces.
