Vic and Sade – Mr Gumpox Offers Sade A Stall. 1939.

In the house halfway up the next block, Vic tries to maintain his calm, while
Sade seems nervous over the situation already in progress. She’s defensive of her own actions, and when Rush enters, makes claims of Vic over reacting. What’s the crisis of the day?

It’s the simple matter of the trash man, Mr Gumpox, offering Sade a storage stall to keep things in. Vic maintains his calm, but Sade’s defensiveness is a sure sign that she knows that Vic won’t be happy with her. The family can store all their seldom used things in the stall, and access them whenever they need them. Still, there’s something not being said.

Vic sees the value in storing seldom needed goods, but he soon realizes that Sade wants to store his lodge regalia there. If it were up to her, it would all be there, I’m sure. She just can’t understand it’s importance to Vic. When she begins to list the “non essential items” that she plans to send off to storage, Vic has a meltdown. Vic has an easy answer, “No.” Don’t mess with Vic’s lodge stuff. He may bend on a lot of issues, be pushed into doing things that Sade feels are important, but don’t ever mess with the lodge.

As Vic seethes, the phone rings as if to rescue Sade, and she invites the family over for an evening of playing cards. By the end, both Rush and Vic turn stubborn, and give Sade a hard time over ic cream flavors.

PS: That portrait of RJ Conk sounds pretty cool to me. Why would Sade want to get rid of it anyway?
