In the office of the assayer’s office, men talk about the potential bounty of the mine. There’s contraversy over the ore samples that were brought back, and the investment looks questionable. The young employ thinks there’s promise, and wants another ore sample, and to ensure it is done right, his co-worker goes to get it.
Young Andy goes to meet with the bosses family about the potential investments, he presents his suspicion about the ore samples being switched, Mr Tate is upset, and gets in a fight with him. Tate is a potential business partner, and the fighting makes the boss’s daughter, Katherine toss Andy out. Will her dad, Mr Moffet get the word of the dangerous partnership, and potentially tainted ore samples? At the same time, the Lone Ranger has been doing some poking around into suspicious behavior.
In the miner’s camp there’s shooting. The Lone Ranger lurks, and observes as men pass through in a ride by shooting, The man who has been wounded is the one who went for the second ore sample. He manages to tell Lone Ranger what he knows about it, and it’s now up to the Lone Ranger to relay the words of the diing man.
Though Andy is suspicious of the masked man at first, trust is developed, and a plann is made to change things. Andy is given the terse instructions to turn Mike’s body over to the coroner, and wait. The Lone Rager rides off to do his work. Signs of sabotage are uncovered, but will more solid proof be found?
Back in the Moffet home, Katherine finds out that everything Andy argued over in the fight with Tate has come about, and she makes up with him. Tonto rides up with a document to give Andy, but Katherine isn’t let in on the secret. Later, the distressed Katherine runs screaming through the night, and wen she runs into the Lone Ranger her story, it gives him yet more clues to wrap up the mystery of the swindle that is in the works.
Time for the big confrontation, and with the expert gunplay of the Lone Ranger, all the secrets are revealed. Bad guys are subdued, and of course the boy gets the girl.
