The latest adfventure to enter box 13 finds Dan holiday facing a luxury cruise liner. Dan claims to not be up for another travelling excursion, but he goes to the pier anyway, just to return the tickets. Imagine his surprise to find no ocean liner, but a man inviting him to board a yacht.
After being abducted, and locked in his cabin the yacht sails all night. In the morning Dan learns there are three other people who have been kidnapped as well. Hey, there could be worse ways to be kidnapped, and though the others seem in a panic to be confined Dan’s philosophy is to just relax and enjoy the luxury surroundings.
Finally the explanation comes out. Each person has placed an ad for some sort of companion, adventure, or investigative work. The situation of a perfect crime is presented, and the claim that one of the four present is a killer. The wealthy benefactor, Mr Mallory, claims to know who the killer is, and rules of his game are layed out. If the killer isn’t found out before the yacht docks in three days, all will be forgiven and the killer goes free.A Clue is given, and it could be in the killer’s best interest to knock off the other sea companions.
The eccentric man comes to Dan in private with a gun, just in case he needs it for protection. The cabin doors are now unlocked so the guests can freely intermingle. Stress begins to make the passengers a little frazzled state. Suspicions grow as the shipmates try to learn who can be trusted. Mr Mallory seems awfully smug as he watches the developments, and as Dan pieces the meaning of the clues together. The killer shows himself under the stress of the situation,
With the mystery out in the clear, Mallory shares one last secret with Dan.
