Lum and Abner – Abner Helps Lum Pack For Trip To Tulsa. 350924.

Horlicks: Carlton Brickert shares a message to those suffering from a sleepless night. All it takes is an easy to digest hot cup of Horlicks. Try it tonight, and keep a package on hand.

Down in Pine Ridge, Lum’s only chance to beat his charges of violating the Blue Sky law is to find Squire Skimp. After a report from Dick Huddleston, telling that Tulsa is a likely place where Squire is hiding, Lum sets out to find him.

Today Abner helps Lum to pack for a trip to Tulsa. Abner shares some concerns with the rolling store, and getting help with handling the books. Abner has packed a disguise for Lum to use as he plays detective, but Lum doesn’t think the heavy coat and false whiskers will be needed. It could be worse, Abner planned to pack him an indian costume.

Abner reports on the success he had with his disguise, but Lum thinks it just backfired on him, and Lizabeth just went along to get some work out of Abner. There’s even a nice lunch that Lizabeth packed for Lum for his trip. The tasty treats look so good… And not wanting the food to spoil… Well, there’s just one thing to do, enjoy it right now while it’s still fresh.

Abner drops the hints that with all that feast, surely Lum can’t pack it away all alone. Could he? Dick Huddleston pops in to comment on the packing job, and the food.

Dick recommends that going to Tulsa might be a bad idea. If Lum was to leave town, it might be breaking the rules of his bond, and folks who contributed to Lum’s bail money might not get it back. Pleased to know that Lum is staying, Abner attacks the feast set before them.

Horlicks: Carlton Brickert tells the benefit of Horlicks to prevent colds and sickness. It’s rich in vitamins and body building minerals. Get it from your druggist today in either chocolate or natural flavors.

Note: Though this story line continues, this is the last show available for a while. For the next several weeks, and on through the Summer, I’ll post the shows that are available.

Also, because the show continues, I think it’s safe to say that Lum and Abner managed to get out of their scrape with the law. I wonder what ever happened to that rolling grocery store though? I don’t think it ever appears again, or was ever given a name, but I haven’t listened to the shows after 1940 or so. Yet.
