Great Gildersleeves – Royal Visit. 431121 Gildersleeves gets a letter from a guy who became the richest man from his colege class. He even married a Countess. LeRoy and Marjorie plan on greeting them in style, as Gildy worries about who he should invite, and making sure everybody is on their best behavior.
Gildy makes the rounds to invite Judge Hooker, and tries to pick up something special from Peavey’s. He then tries to talk Leila into using her parlor to entertain his guests, but wants to have her spend the evening elsewhere. Will she go for it? I know I wouldn’t.
AFRS has removed commercials, so there’s a musical intermission by Kaye Kaiser, What’s the Good Word Mr Bluebird. Folowed by his vocalist Harry Benet to sing, Would it Be Wrong.
It’s the big day of the party, and Gildersleeves goes over details with Birdie. He has been demanding with all his friends, and now wants LeRoy and Marjorie to make plans to eat elsewhere, but still wants them looking spiffy when the guests arrive.
As time marches on, Gildy becomes more frantic. All the guests begin arriving, after all the bigpreparations, calling in favors, and the big disappointment. His friend had to cancel. Amazingly, all his friends that he has in town still manage to like him anyway.
